Major Indian trading company MMTC, which holds diverse interests in minerals, fertilizers, precious metals, coal, metals, agro products, and an importer of gold and silver, is keen on tapping business opportunities in Africa, reports say. So far it holds an international office in Singapore.

MMTC plans opening an office in Johannesburg on January 10, 2011, seeking business opportunities especially for diamonds, gold and silver, reports say. The office will initially be a liaison office to be converted to a full-fledged office in due course of time.

The company aims to seek business in trading and forming joint ventures with African companies in South Africa and other African countries. The new office will be the focal point to source precious stones like diamonds and grow the MMTC reach in Africa.
