GJEPC sets eligibility norms for exporters applying for MDA

The Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) has fixed the minimum threshold limit for eligibility of the exporters under the Market Development Assistance (MDA) Scheme grant for the Diamond Panel and Gold Jewellery Panel categories at Rs.1crore. minimum threshold limit for eligibility of the exporters under the MDA grant for Coloured Gemstone and Panel and Pearls / Synthetic Stone / Costume Fashion jewellery and Sales to Foreign Tourist Panel categories is determined at Rs.25 lakh, which is subject to an increase of 20 percent every year until it reaches a maximum limit of Rs.1 crore.

The decision taken by the GJEPC follows a letter by the Ministry of Commerce in which it had decided to discontinued the assistance to exporters with nil or negligible exports in the previous year. The Ministry had also asked the GJEPC to finalise a minimum threshold for FOB value of exports in consultation with its Committee of Administration to arrive at the eligibility for receiving MDA grant.
