Diamantine - a stone which demonstrates all the properties of a diamond but is an alternative to diamonds has been launched in India by Goldplus, a leading jewellery retail brand under the banner of Titan Industries of the Tata group. Gold Plus has launched the Diamantine jewellery collection in 18 carat gold and is retailing it across its 29 outfits in the country.

Diamantine is available at one-tenth the cost of a diamond but bears the cut, colour and clarity properties of a diamond. GoldpLus believes this alternative to diamond jewellery could help offset the consumer concern of purchasing jewellery in current times of high prices of diamond and gold.

Each Diamantine is made with nanocrystalline diamond coating technology developed by Serenity Technology Inc., USA. A nanocoating of real diamond particles below 60 nm is applied on all cut surfaces of the gem material. Each nano diamond particle has optical and physical properties of a real diamond.
