A 34.37 carat pear shaped white good quality diamond discovered by National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) in June this year, is soon to be up for tenders, as reported. The diamond is popular as the biggest diamond discovered from the Panna Mines in Madhya Pradesh, so far. The stone is expected to achieve up to 5 crore in the bids.

NMDC plans to invite tenders for 40 other diamonds, each within sizes above 5 carats and below 30 carat, along with the pear shaped stone. The 34.37 carat stone defeats the 32 carat diamond found at the mines in 2005 and a 30.30 carat diamond discovered in 2003.

NMDC’s auction of 9,700 carats of rough diamonds slated for this week will not include the auction of 34.37 carat pear shaped diamond.
