Gem Diamonds discovers 196 carat white diamond

A white rough diamond of 196 carats has been discovered at the Letšeng mine in Lesotho, by Gem Diamonds. The Letšeng mine has been reputed for producing a variety of such remarkably large stones. Since it bought the mine in 2006, Gem Diamonds has discovered roughs like 603 carat Letšeng Promise, 493 carat Letšeng Legacy, and the 478 carat Light of Letšeng. The company expects the white rough to deliver polished diamonds of top color and top clarity, and obtain an attractive price per carat.
