India’s gem and jewellery exports rise by 54.96% in February

February 2010, for India, churned some encouraging rise in exports for various segments within its gem and jewellery industry. Exports of cut and polished diamonds increased 59.11 percent to USD 1370.30 million in the said month, while in February 2009, it amounted to USD 861.25 million, reports add.

Gold jewellery exports soared 37.51 percent to USD 713.52 million, as compared to USD 518.89 million in February 2009. Coloured gemstones also saw a whopping 89.85 percent increase to USD 32.37 million, as compared to USD 17.05 million in the same month last year, reports say. India’s total gem and jewellery exports rose 54.96 percent to USD2252.54 million in February 2010, in comparison USD 1453.59 million in February 2009.
