Karp Impex, a DTC sightholder with offices in Antwerp, fell victim to one of the biggest robberies in Belgium's illustrious diamond sector. The family of Pankaj Maldar, a partner at Karp Impex NV, was held at gun point at their Antwerp residence by a gang demanding stock from the company’s office.

Reports indicate that the robbers made away with diamonds valued up to $10 million after the 18 hour ordeal, but when confirmed with one of the partners of company, he said the value is much lower than reported in papers, infact its not easy and possible to value the stock at the moment.

As spoken to Diamond World by one of the partners of the Karp Group, "Its part of the business and life, we are happy that our family is safe, and all we can say we will work harder in coming years and cover the money we have lost in robbery."

Diamond World hopes the government of antwerp take such incidencies very seriously, since its happening very often now. They should take steps to safeguard business houses and their families. Such incidencies seriously affecting the businesses of the companies which are built over decades.
