Israel’s January polished diamond exports rise by 84%

January 2010 brought an 84 percent hike in Israel’s polished diamond exports amounting to $563.2 million, and over three times an increase in rough diamond exports to $302.9 million, reports say. Total rough and polished diamond exports more than doubled to $866.1 million in the said month.

Total imports of rough and polished diamonds exceeded three times to $504.9 million, reports say. The country’s net diamond account in the month (total exports less total imports)increased 38 percent to $361.2 million.
