U.S. consumer price index for jewellery records highest level in November 2009

In November 2009, the U.S. consumer price index (CPI) for jewellery touched its highest level since June 1995, reports say. Last month, the CPI showed a reading of 161.1 points, which indicated a 3.3 percent rise than the CPI noted in November 2008. Reports add that November jewellery CPI was the 22nd consecutive month during which the CPI for jewellery was higher than 150 points.

This index is based upon the reference point of average prices in 1986, which is set at 100 points, reports say.
