Kroger appoints new CEO and president

Rodney McMullen will assume office in August

Rodney McMullen is appointed president and chief operating officer (COO) at Kroger and will replace Don McGeorge, who is voluntarily retiring. McMullen will assume office from August 1, 2009.

In his current position of vice chairman, McMullen has been contributing towards strategic initiatives, business planning and customer research, handling the portfolio for the company’s convenience and jewellery stores. Kroger is the operates jewellery stores under the brand names Fred Meyer, Littman, Barclay and Fox's.

Although McGeorge will retire from his position as president of the company, he will continue on its board of Directors, and as special advisor to the chief executive.
