China’s polished diamond imports increase by 11.3%

There was an increase of 11.3 percent in China’s imports of polished diamonds for the month of April 2009. The said imports amounted to $63.3 million. In comparison to the polished diamond imports during March 2009, the imports of April 2009 increased by 16.4 percent, as per reports. In the overall, year to date period, the country’s diamond imports dipped by 2.8 percent and valued at $420 million. In volume terms, diamond imports between January to April decreased by 55.1 percent to 25.87 million carats.
