Mahalaxmi Jewellers, part of DTC Sightholder Laxmi Group, was siphoned off goods worth around Rs. 3 crore at its Ahmedabad operations, by its senior employees. One of the accused was reportedly employed on the post of a senior sales manager at the company's showroom on Ghod Dod Road, and another was the regional sales manager of the company office in Ahmedabad; both of whom were assisted in the robbery by two locals from Ahmedabad.

A complaint has been lodged at the Umra police station, which explains that the company was robbed off jewellery worth Rs 2,94,89,163 over a period of five months from November 2008 to March 2009, using fake invoices and documents. The owners realised the loss of stock during accounting procedures. The police are confident of nabbing the culprits soon.

Laxmi Diamond is the owner of diamond jewellery brand Cygnus.
