Gold prices touch the 15,000-mark on Akshay Trithiya

Today being the occasion of ‘Akshay Trithiya', an auspicious time in the Hindu calendar, when one purchases assets, especially gold, the gold market did fairly well. The price of the yellow metal increased by Rs.140 per 10 gram, and touched the 15,000-mark after a month. The price of standard gold and ornaments also increased by Rs.140 each, to Rs.15,030 and Rs.14,880 per 10 gram, respectively, and sovereign gained Rs.50 at Rs.12,450 per piece of eight gram.

The increase in prices while being attributed to the heavy retail purchase on the festive occasion, it was also accounted due to ‘a firming trend’ in the global markets, through which, the Indian market price trends are usually set. In Asia, the price of gold increased by 0.6 percent to 918.55 dollar an ounce.

According to reports, gold prices soared to a four-week high level of Rs 15,000 per 10 gram.
