JVC reminds U.S. diamond trade to submit trade reports

The Jewelers Vigilance Committee (JVC) is reminding the diamond fraternity in the U.S. to file information about their import or export of rough diamonds during 2008, with the government before the deadline of April 1, 2009. It has created a template on its official website which can be followed by the trade to submit the information.

The details to be submitted include the total number of imports and exports in the categories of - 7102.19 – Unsorted (gem and industrial) rough diamonds; 7102.21 – Sorted rough industrial diamonds and thirdly 7102.31 – Sorted rough gem diamonds. Also, total number of carats imported or exported in each category, the total number of shipments from each category and unsold stockpile at the end of the reporting period, including total carats and approximate total value within each category.
