Canada is soon to have its own diamond exchange - the Diamond Bourse of Canada, to be started by 10 founding members. The exchange is likely to begin operations by this week. The setting up of the Diamond Bourse of Canada is an effort by various key officials from the federal government, the government of the Northwest Territories, from mining and development and industry organisations such as the Canadian Jewelers Association (CJA). This diversity allows for a more efficient and productive operation at the Bourse.

The members of the Bourse have been invited by Avi Paz, president of the World Federation of Diamond Bourses (WFDB) to be part of the WFDB. The Canadian Bourse is expected to allow easier access to the country’s rough and polished diamonds and to the Canadian and Northern American market.

The founding members of the Bourse are: Accudiam Inc., Artinian Diamonds Inc., Brilliant C Diamonds Corp., Diaco Inc., HRA Investments Ltd., Gem Star Inc., Libman & Company Ltd., Louis Frankian Jewellers Inc., Northam Diamond Manufacturing and Trading Inc., Vandan Associates Inc. Bhushan Vora, of Gem Star Inc., is the president and Greg Jacobson the vice president at the Diamond Bourse of Canada.
