Prasad Kapre, Business Director of De Beers Group Marketing in India, has resigned from his position with immediate effect. Hereon, he plans to set up his own business and marketing strategy consultancy service for the gems and jewellery industry.

Kapre has been part of the Diamond Trading Company (DTC) for 13 years, and one of the first to join the company in India in 1995. His contributions entail leading the Diamond Promotion Service (DPS), establishing business networks between leading Indian retailers, at a time when De Beers was not a familiar entity for most of them.

He has been an integral part of the launch of diamond jewellery brands in India like the Nakshatra and Asmi, which are considered to have spearheaded the growth of India's diamond jewellery market. His resignation has come as a sudden development to the industry.
