Alrosa may bid for stake in Polyus

The stake is valued at 12.48 million shares or 6.54 per cent

Alrosa has made an offer to Polyus Gold, to own 12.48 million shares or 6.54 per cent stake in Polyus. Polyus’s subsidiary of Polyus, Jenington International presently owns the shares. Although, Alrosa may also opt out of its proposal. A Polyus shareholder Mikhail Prokhorov's Onexim group’s had also bid for the 6.54 percent stake which Alrosa is keen on.

Kazimir Partners has proposed to acquire 2.5 percent stake in the company. Polyus said that it is not going to sell its shares held by Jenington until after 2010.
