JCK has selected eight budding designers who will make their debut at the JCK Show 2008. The eight designers will be recognised as the Rising Stars of the event, during the Designer Retailer Awards and Ceremony at the Show, sharing the platform with 50 retailers also being honoured for their consistent excellence in jewellery retailing. The occasion is slated for June 1, 2008, at the Design Center on Level 2 of the Sands Expo & Convention Center, where the JCK show is being lined up between May 30 – June 3 at the Sands Expo & Convention Center.

“Selecting the Rising Stars is an exciting process and it’s rewarding to watch the careers of so many take off after their debut at JCK. We have featured Alex Woo, Pamela Froman, Timothy Meier, BlumLux and others who have gone on to reach new heights,” said Dave Bonaparte, Group Vice President, JCK Events. The jury included industry leaders: Amali, Gemra AG, Ginger Peachy, Jessica DiRubio Jewelry, Jetalia, Misha of New York, Nina Basharova, and Rebecca Overmann.

The designs of these eight professionals will be displayed at the Design Center, which is anticipated to invite jewellery retailers worldwide and showcase the designs and styles of 100 established and new designer companies. The 2008 Rising Stars: Amalii designer Sara Freedenfeld is one to work with natural elements like metals and strings. Gemra AG, the official international dealer of Muz Elit LLC, who is a Russian jewellery producer, will feature the Russian haute jewellery brand, Monte Auzi. Ginger Peachy works on the inspiration of ancient beliefs and myths and has created a design in 14k gold with a single sparkling .02 ct diamond at the center. The collection by Jessica DiRubio Jewelry, is inspired by nature, the complexity of architecture and the grace and style of her Grandmother using 18K green gold, hand picked semi-precious stones and certified non-conflict diamonds. Jetalia, jewellery designer Sarena Traver has created four collections centered around celebrating womanhood, crafted in 18 karat yellow and white gold pieces embellished with radiant diamonds and luminous pearls moulded into handmade deigsns. Misha, a New York-based designer has used rare and exotic stones along with unique old world craftsmanship in very modern settings. From the portfolio of Nina Basharova, a Russian designer, the jewellery collection is a blend of culture, art and history. Rebecca Overmann has created a collection applying high-forged 18K gold, oxidised sterling silver, enamel and diamonds, using sophisticated and uncluttered motifs.
