HRD Antwerp NV, which is participating at the forthcoming Istanbul Jewellery Show, has decided to organise a seminar on about synthetic diamonds and diamond simulants. The seminar entitled ‘Synthetic and treated gem diamonds: present status’ will be presented by Dr. Katrien De Corte, a senior Research Scientist and Head of HRD Antwerp – Education.

The Istanbul Jewellery Show is slated to be held between March 26 to March 30 at the Istanbul Expo Centre. Around 1,000 exhibitors are expected. “The Turkish jewellery industry is an increasingly prominent player on the world market, and one that we are keen to play a role in. Not only is it an important jewellery manufacturer in its own right and also an important distribution hub in the region, Turkey also is a market with tremendous potential. The Turkish trade needs to be kept up to date of development in the business, and it is for this reason that we are presenting our seminar,” said Georges Brys, General Manager of HRD Antwerp.

Turkey is the world’s third largest producer of gold jewellery after Italy and India. The diamond market in Turkey is increasing to the extent hat plans are afloat to set up a full-fledged diamond bourse in Istanbul.
