Executive Committee Board guarantees continuity in HRD operations

Peter Meeus resigns, stays on till January 31 to ensure smooth functioning

Peter Meeus resigned after having headed the umbrella organisation of the Belgian diamond industry for over six years. However to guarantee a smooth transition Meeus will stay on until 31 January. Until Meeus� successor will be appointed his powers are entrusted to a tripartite management team consisting of Chris Swolfs, Youri Steverlynck and Mark Van Bockstael.

Chris Swolfs, Director of Business Development, will be in charge of the commercial activities of HRD, including the certificate laboratory, the training institute and the sale of instruments. He will also hold financial powers. Youri Steverlynck is now in charge of General Services, Diamond Office, Public Relations and contacts with the authorities. As Public Relations Manager he developed the annual Antwerp Diamond Conference into a unique event within the diamond industry. Mark Van Bockstael, Manager International Affairs will be responsible for foreign contacts of HRD. He also holds several international positions.

This Thursday the General Assembly of HRD will appoint five new representatives of the trade group within the Board of Directors. The new Board of Directors must sanction the temporary measures.
