The Ministry of Commerce and Industry held a meeting with GJEPC on 30.06.2019 requesting GJEPC to examine the possibility of forming a separate Council for Diamond. Based on this request and subsequent discussions in the 12th meeting of the Committee of Administration (CoA) held on 7th August 2019, the council seeks views of the trade regarding the formation of a separate Diamond Council.
For this, the council requests members to fill the form, thereby, sharing their views on the subject and send it to GJEPC on or before 10th September.

Diamond World believes that since GJEPC already caters to export matters relating to the gems and jewellery industry which is heading towards domestic council formation as well in the near future. Does the Government view the diamond industry as a separate entity from the gold and jewellery industry? Will the new council, if formed, lay down different policies for those members who deal exclusively in diamonds?
