The International Gemological Institute, IGI, conducted a ‘Young gemologist’ workshop at the National Sports Club of India (NSCI), Mumbai. The workshop that is designed to introduce the world of gems to young minds had them discover the field of gemological studies. The session covered various topics ranging from formation of diamonds and gemstones, the composition of such formations and the many types of gems.

The participants got a glimpse of the journey a diamond takes from the mine to the market. The students were fascinated with the various shapes and styles that a diamond takes after it's polished. They were given an opportunity to view the
elaborate structure of a diamond under a microscope and to observe the optical phenomena in polished gemstones. IGI has been conducting the Young gemologist session for students, giving them an opportunity to think beyond the conventional realm of studies and to contemplate on a career in Gemology.

In their continuing efforts to increase awareness among students, IGI- School Of Gemology, the educational wing of IGI, conducts workshops across the country. The 'Young Gemologist' workshop bridges the information gap that exists among students about the endless career opportunities in the world of Gemology.  With an unparalleled range of coursework, spanning everything from rough diamond grading to gemstones, modern treatments and Computer-Assisted Jewelry Design, IGI continues to maintain its place as the world's most trusted names in Diamond Certification and Education.
