TGJTA hosts a large number of international industry players

The overall feedback is of a slower industry growth

diamond world news service

The TGJTA spannign five days had a good turn out of events. The statistics of gem and jewellery in 2007-06 indicated an increase of around 45% in export value. In Volume terms it is much less, moving along the negative curve. The increase enjoyed in value is beacuse of sharp increase of gold price over an year and strong speculation on gold trading.

The TGJTA hosted a wide spectrum of industry majors across the globe, Ruissian, Japanese and others. The opinion generated on the whole at the evnt was a lowered enthisiasm for the indysrry as the slump in the US has not been overcome. The strong Thai currency and falling US currency also pose a big problem for thai exporters.Mr Vichai, President, TGJTA intends to turn this Bangok manufacturing centre as a trading centre like Dubai, Hong Kong, with the support of his government.
