To address the increasing demand for larger stones

The Rapaport Group has altered its weekly price list, which now includes an additional set of 10-carat stones. These would be the largest sized diamonds appearing on the Rapaport price list. Earlier, the largest diamonds to have featured on the list were of 5-carats. This expansion has been triggered by the demand for large diamonds in the marketplace and the high prices of the same.

Due to the decline of the dollar and the high demand for large diamonds, people are prompted to invest in diamonds. Rapaport has however, cautioned the industry regarding investing in larger stones in a statement on Diamonds.net, that "higher prices brought about by internal diamond industry speculation are not sustainable and may result in significant financial loss. Members of the diamond trade are encouraged to consider at what price level they are buying diamonds."
