EU annouces dates for Kimberley meeting

Meeting will host over 70 participating countries in Brussels

The annual Plenary Meeting of the Kimberley Process has been scheduled to be held in Brussels between 5 – 8 November, according to the EU, which is acting as the Kimberley Process Chair. The meeting will be attended by over 70 participating countries, representatives from member countries, international organisations, civil society and the private sector.

The agenda of the meeting will focus on the Kimberley implementation issues, covering monitoring, transparency and the Kimberley ‘reform agenda’, solutions to ‘crisis situations’, which could possibly create a risk of conflict diamonds’ laundering into the legitimate trade.
