Yurman opens first chicago store over over 1,600-sq.ft.

Chicago now has a David Yurman retail store, being the first such store in the city, spread over 1,600-square-feet on Oak Street. The location, apparently perfect for the store with its backdrop of luxury names including Graff, Jil Sander, Jimmy Choo, Kate Spade, Luca Luca, Prada and soon-to-be Harry Winston. The Yurman store will retail the entire jewellery line and bridal collection, all within the price segment of $300 to $6,500, and majority valued between $2,000 to $4,000.

Yurman's signature cable designs, rings, watches and men's jewellery will also be part of the store’s offerings, along with Yurman jewellery crafted in gold, diamonds, South Sea pearls, amethysts, citrines and handcrafted silver.

According to a statement in the Chicago Sun-Times, Yurman said that “Chicagoans prefer ‘larger, in-your-face’ jewellery, as well as classic designs in black and white and black and gold, We've gotten away from the whispery, shy jewellery.” He also mentined that the stores generate an estimated 25 percent of Yurman's overall revenues.
