At the fourth Antwerp Diamond Conference held recently, De Beers Group Managing Director Gareth Penny harped on the potential of opportunities for diamantaires with emergence of new diamond centres and producing countries.

He particularly showed support for the growing African economy and said that the beneficiation for the African producing countries was justified and essential. According to him the African countries must be allowed to make most of their natural resources to uplift their economies. He also touched upon the need to enhance the consumer confidence and knowledge in purchasing diamonds.
