Billionaire Diamantaire Nirav Modi Arrested in London

The jeweller in question following an arrest warrant issued by the UK

Wanted in a Rs 13,000 crore bank fraud, accused jeweller Nirav Modi was arrested in London yesterday. According to the Enforcement Directorate, Nirav was arrested at the Holborn metro station in central London.

The accused apparently has been living in a 33-storey apartment in London’s West End. Earlier this month he was spotted in a 10000 pound ostrich-hide jacket. He refused to give any sort of response to the reporter. The reporter who works at The Telegraph reported that the billionaire jeweller had started a diamond business in Soho after acquiring all the necessary permits.

After India’s request for Nirav’s extradition, the UK issued a warrant against him. But whether or not he will be extradited is still a question mark considering the long legal process.
