Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company signed MoU with the Geological Survey

According to industry reports, A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed for surveying sites pertaining to the presence of gems and precious stones in the country.

This was stated by the Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company (PGJDC) on Thursday. Asif Hussain of PGJDC said that his organisation has signed a MoU with the Geological Survey of Pakistan (GSP), in this regard.

He said that the GSP will carry out surveys for locating sites in the country for the presence of gems and precious stones so that mining work could be undertaken.

Asif said that the Northern Areas of the country are especially favoured and that after completion of the surveys, work would be undertaken in light of the results obtained. The jewellery industry in Pakistan would also get a boost through exports of gems, he added.
