IGI School of Gemology, the educational wing of the International Gemological Institute, IGI India, conducted the 'Young Gemologist' workshop for the students of JBCN International School, Borivali. The workshop continues to help young minds across the city delve into a whole new world of gemology.
The workshop primarily focused on the formation of diamonds and other precious gemstones. The students got a glimpse of the journey a diamond takes from mines to the markets. The students were fascinated with the various forms and shapes that a diamond takes after undergoes polishing. They were given an opportunity to view the breathtaking structure of a diamond under a microscope in order to understand the various inclusions and blemishes associated with the diamond. The students were amazed by the 'optical phenomena' they experienced when viewing certain gemstones. The 'Young Gemologist' workshop helped the students think beyond the conventional realm of opportunities post their formal education and further contemplate on a career in the field of gemology.
