Petra makes its largest discovery of a 99.43 carat

According to Petra Diamonds Ltd., its discovery of a 99.43 carat diamond the Sedibeng mine in South Africa, has been ‘the most valuable diamond’ it has ever recovered. Such typically large stones of good colour and clarity have been traded in the markets for prices above $1 million per carat. However the 99.43 stone only fetched $1.31 million, or $13,125 per carat.
