DE BEERS LV will open an exclusive diamond jewelry retail shop in India and expand its already existing Nakshatra range.

The first De Beers store opened in London as a result of a strategic review in 1999 and has since expanded to other cities around the world, including New York, Beverly Hills, Las Vegas, Tokyo, and Paris.

On the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Switzerland, De Beers' director Jonathan Oppenheimer told that the company already has a 50:50 joint venture with LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton to retail exclusive diamond jewelry in six countries.

"We will also expand the Nakshatra constellation of diamond jewelry, which we launched in India a few years ago under a partnership with our sight holders. Aishwarya Rai was signed up as the brand ambassador for this range," Oppenheimer said.

"India is an important market for us and we will continue to expand in that market," he added.
