IDL issues Arabic certificate

diamond world news service

The International Diamond Laboratories (IDL) has taken the initiative of also developing diamond grading certificates in regional languages; apart from English. It announced that it has begun issuing certificates in Arabic language for the UAE markets. The first such certificate was for a 24 carat pear-shaped diamond from Damas, in the Middle East.

To comply with international trade practices, the diamond grade and colour will be written in English, while weight, cut and clarity are listed in Arabic. “The demand for diamonds in the Middle East is growing at a rapid pace. Arabic diamond certification services provided by IDL will prove useful to traders and buyers alike,” said Damas managing director Tamjid Abdullah.
