UGC offers Bachelor of Science degree in jewellery studies

Focus on a wide range of technical, business and marketing skills including brand management, entrepreneurship, retail management

Bringing in good news for aspirants of jewellery sector Sindhar Institute of Gemology, a Kolkata-based jewellery institute, has introduced a three-year Bachelor of Science degree in jewellery studies, which is accredited by the University Grants Commission (UGC), the state-run body that provides funds and maintains standards in institutions of higher education in India.

The Sindhar institute is also administered in collaboration with Punjab Technical University.

The degree program will focus on a wide range of technical, business and marketing skills including brand management, entrepreneurship, retail management etc., and other ancillary skills such as jewellery store design, company law and computer accountancy among others.

The institute also offers a professional diploma course, which focuses on technical training of all aspects of the gem and jewellery industry, recognised by the Jadavpur University.
