GJEPC felicitates CISF officials for helping foil robbery attempt by Chinese nationals at IIJS

Due to the presence of mind of CISF deployed at IIJS venue, Mumbai Airport, Mumbai Police and immigration officials, the two culprits were caught before they could flew out of the country.

The Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) organized a felicitation ceremony of CISF officials, on 18th August 2017, at Bharat Diamond Bourse, Bandra Kurla Complex.

Himanshu Pandey, Senior Commandant, CISF and A.K. Nag, Asst Commandant CISF were felicitated at the ceremony. The ceremony was graced by Praveenshankar Pandya, Chairman of GJEPC, Russell Mehta, Vice-chairman of GJEPC, Saunak Parikh, Convener of the National Exhibitions Sub-Committee of GJEPC, Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director of GJEPC.

CISF officials were successful in nabbing two Chinese nationalists at the Mumbai airport, who were trying to flee away from India after robbing diamond worth Rs. 34 lakhs. The diamonds were robbed at the recent India International Jewellery Show in Mumbai.

While trying to strike a deal, the two Chinese nationals had cleverly switched and replaced a diamond piece weighing 5.4 carats, approximately costing Rs. 34 lakhs, with a fake piece. Due to the swift action by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) led to the Chinese nationals’ arrest at Mumbai airport. The diamond, worth Rs. 34 lakh, was recovered from a bottle of shampoo.
