Lucapa estimates Mothae’s reserves at 1.04-million carats

Lucapa Diamonds estimates that its Mothae kimberlite pipe has estimated a total of 1.04-million carats to a depth of 300 meters, reports say. The mining company has issued a “maiden Joint Ore Reserves Committee-compliant resource estimate for the Mothae kimberlite pipe” in Lesotho. The mine estimate provides an average value of $1,063 per carat, and according to the company this is attributable to the high value Type IIa diamonds at the mine, as per reports.
