Sovereign gold bonds to be traded on exchanges

The Indian government launches sovereign gold bond scheme is getting another boost. Recently, the Reserve Bank of India today gave the green card for these sovereign gold bonds (SGB) issued on September 30, 2016 to be traded on the stock exchanges. The bonds are those held in dematerialised form. The trading is permitted from October 19, reports say.

The fifth tranche of the sovereign gold bonds was opened to subscribers from September 1, 2016 to September 9, 2016. This attracted over 2 lakh applications, as per reports.
