PJSC ALROSA's rough diamond sales at USD 243.0 million in August

PJSC ALROSA, announced its rough diamond sales in August 2016 amounted to USD 243.0 million, 58 percent higher against 2015. Its polished diamond sales over the same period amounted to USD 6.3 million. In July 2016, ALROSA sold rough and polished diamonds for USD 306.7 million against USD 203.1 million a year ago.

In the months January-August 2016, rough diamond sales reached USD 3,091.1 million, 23 percent higher on y-o-y basis. Polished diamond sales in January-August 2016 amounted to USD 70.5 million, 18 percent lower against 2015. Taking into account polished diamonds, sales by ALROSA Group for 8 months of 2016 amounted to USD 3,161.5 million, 21 percent higher against 2015.

In January-August 2016, the company sold 25.398 million carats of rough diamonds compared to 20.588 million carats sold in the same period in 2015. ALROSA has noted a stable market recovery trend after 2015. However, the company's market outlook is still moderately conservative. “In August 2016, the Company observed no seasonal slump in demand for rough diamonds characteristic of this month,” says Yury Okoemov, ALROSA Vice President.
