Next month will host the third edition of the International Rough Diamond Week (IRDW) in Israel. The event will be held from May 22 to 26 within the rough diamond trading halls of the Israel Diamond Exchange which will also house private viewing rooms to accommodate buyers.

The event is expected to boost Israel’s international status as a rough diamond trading center. Buyers in record numbers and hundreds of manufacturers from Israel are expected to gather at the IRDW. Tenders from leading diamond producers including De Beers Auction Sales, Alrosa, Rio Tinto will unfold, as will networking and social events which are planned to be held in conjunction with the IRDW.

According to IDE President Yoram Dvash, the Israeli diamond industry is manufacturing-based and thus needs the encouragement of a steady supply of rough diamonds. He also noted that, the Rough Diamond Weeks have been important to materialize the strategy of attracting major diamond producers to Israel, to increase and diversify the rough supply in Israel.
