GJF-led delegation meets FM

The delegation submitted its presentation to the FM to consider rolling back excise duty.

A delegation led by All India Gems and Jewellery Trade Federation (GJF) team met hon’ble FM Arun Jaitley, today. The delegation has submitted its presentation to the FM.

“We see a ray of hope after this meeting,” says GJF. The presentation has been made in regards to ongoing jewellers’ strike across India to protest against the proposed re-imposition of 1 per cent excise tax on gold and diamond jewellery.

Meanwhile, IBJA too has submitted a proposal to the FM requesting the government to roll back Excise Duty and increase Customs Duty. IBJA has informed Finance Ministry, till excise is Rolled back or assurance of roll back is given, strike will not be called off and the entire India Gems and Jewellery Industry will continue indefinite strike.
