Antwerp’s polished diamond exports down 11.93% in November

There was a drop in diamond exports from Antwerp in November this year. While polished diamond exports dropped 11.93 percent to US$ 920.4 million, the rough diamond exports dropped 54.32 percent to US$ 643.4 million, as per reports. The drop was also witnessed in the volume of the said exports. The volume of polished diamonds exports stood at 3,82,491 carats or a 16.24 percent drop. Antwerp exported 53,80,753 carats of rough diamonds indicating a 57.48 percent drop, reports say.

The imports too were on the negative side. Polished diamond imports in value dropped to US$ 770.2 million or 17.34 percent with volumes of 4,43,615 carats representing a 9.35 percent. Rough diamonds imports were of 65,48,497 carats or a 25.41 percent drop in volume, and valued at US$ 709.3 million or a 42.69 percent drop in value from November 2015, reports add.
