SIRS discusses retailing in digital age

The Bengaluru meeting of South India Retail Summit brought together senior management representatives from different retail segments to discuss the ‘Building successful retail models and growing the retail ecosystem in a technology and digitally-enhanced retail atmosphere to delight new age consumers.’ 

Rashmi Nair, Associate Director, Deals Strategy PwC, opened the summit with her presentation. The lady offered detailed and in-depth insights on consumer behaviour in south India noting that most South Indian consumers still continue to be highly price conscious, but many are willing to spend a premium on certain products, especially branded goods. She said that there has been a significant rise in off -takes of jewellery, ethnic wear, beauty and wellness products in south India during recent years. 

Several others also presented their views on in the summit and one of those was made by Siddharth Jain, Principal, AT Kearney, covering the development of omnichannel retailing. Suraj Shantakumar, Director – Strategy, Kirtilals also spoke on Experiential Retail. LavnayaNalli, President – Nallis also participated in discussion. The Summit also highlighted the RED, ie, Retail Employees Day, to recognise and applaud the efforts of Retail Associates.
