Platinum jewellery gains popularity with the male consumer segment

Platinum Guild India sees this segment would drive sales of platinum jewellery next year

Platinum jewellery is gaining consumer interest especially the male segment, as experienced by jewellery retailers and brands, reports say. As per Vaishali Banerjee, MD of Platinum Guild India, the Indian Platinum Retail Trade Barometer 2014 conducted by Stratwon Research, indicates platinum jewellery for men to be the fastest-growing segment. From 17 percent in 2014, the segment is now a 21 percent share of the product. Platinum Guild India intends to increase its focus on this segment as it sees it to be the sales driver in 2016.

In this category, in the current year, retail jewelers witnessed a growth of 25-30 percent, some others have recorded around a 60 percent growth, as per reports. South India received a healthy response in platinum jewellery.
