GSI (Gemological Science International) CEO Mark Gershburg noted that right knowledge can help avoid much of the concern surrounding synthetic diamonds. GSI will be one of the participants at the Diamond Detection Expo and Symposium hosted jointly by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) and the Bharat Diamond Bourse (BDB) in Mumbai on December 15 and 16.

“A better understanding of the facts and issues surrounding synthetic diamonds will help dispel some of the needless panic and confusion. It will help the diamond industry cope more effectively with the issue of undisclosed mixing of synthetic diamonds with parcels of natural goods,” said GSI Mark Gershburg. At the Symposium, GSI would deal with various facets of synthetic diamonds, informing the diamond industry members and even benefitting non-technical diamond industry stakeholders through knowledge on issues and latest developments.

GSI Chief Gemologist Seema Ashish Athavale will host a seminar on a comparative study of natural and synthetic diamonds.
