Sotheby’s creates record by making $ 300 million in jewellery sales in 2015

Sotheby achieved this impressive total by a new world record for a jewellery auction in May-$161 million- and the new world record for a diamond, a jewel and any gemstone, achieved by the Blue Moon Diamond, which sold for $48,468,158.  Another exceptional sale was the Sunrise Ruby, which beat the world auction record for a ruby in 2015 when it sold for $30.3 million. 

 In fact, in the year 2015 Sotheby’s sold 88% of its lots to over 500 bidders from 49 countries. More Than 70% of were sold over their high estimates. More than 860 lots were sold. Among them, two were sold for over CHF 20 million, 15 were sold for over CHF 3 million and 40 were sold for over CHF 1 million.
