Retailers explore a new design angle

diamond world news service

Rough diamonds are turning into a design statement with diamond jewellery, much to the appeal of consumers. According to Azcentral.com, every third piece sol at the three De Beers’ outlets in the United States contains roughs, so also with Bergdorf Goodman and Tiffany who craft jewelelry with rough diamonds.

The wholesale cost of a rough being a lot less than cut diamonds, appeals to both the jeweller and the consumer. Amongst the Tiffany collection, one such unique piece is a necklace containing pearls and rough diamonds, being retailed for $750,000. However there are no systems as yet to evaluate a rough, making the purchase a matter of trial and error.
