India will have its own gold coins, which it shall mint and sell, as per the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The gold coins will bear the Ashoka Chakra.

The PM spoke of this as something needed, as after 70 years of independence the country is yet continuing to import gold coins and bullion gold bars, also used by foreigners, as per reports. The gold coins India imports from US Mint carries the Eagle embossed on it, while the Royal Mint of UK too makes gold coins. The PM spoke of the need for a ‘Swadeshi Mark’ with reference to gold coins from India. The coins will be made in 5 gm and 10 gm, and would be launched ahead of Dhanteras, as per reports.
