Amazon launches Handmade

Online retail giant Amazon has launched a new section solely for handmade products and has named it also as ‘Handmade’, reports say. This is a space for artisans from all over 60 countries in the world to sell their handcrafted products, among which is also jewellery though 400 pages of listing, reports add. Also, over 90 percent of the jewellery on the pages are priced below $200, reports add.

This section of Handmade aims to compete with Etsy. Amazon has a charge for sellers –a 20-cent listing fee and then takes 3.5 percent of the selling price excluding shipping; it charges a referral fee currently at 12 percent of an item’s final value (with a 50-cent minimum). The retailer noted this fee would expire on August. 1, 2016, reports add.
