Indians from the farthermost corners of China from Tianjin in the north to Shaoxing and Guangzhou in the south had gathered in Shanghai on May 16, 2015. Be it traders, executives or students, all had thronged to the auditorium as this was the first time Indian PM was addressing Indians based in China.

Even Indian jewellery community group Sarjan was present at the auditorium. Some of the members present were – Rashmikant Donda-President, Gautam Gopani-Vice President, Tony Mehta, Shailesh Jain, Darshan Bhagat, Naresh Surana, Vijay Sheth, Zulu Ghevriya, Mansukh Budheliya, Mukesh Dholakiya,  Paresh Katrodiya, Hiren patel, Praful patel, Ramesh Maldar, Vivek Sacheti, Jatin Kakadiya, Hiren Shekhadiya etc.

It was for the first time in China's history that its President had received any foreign leader outside Beijing, a gesture which was shown by Xi Jinping who travelled to Xi'an to welcome Modi. The visit was aimed at seeking closer co-operation between the two giant Asian countries.
