diamond world news service

Lucapa Diamond Company Ltd. has sold the third parcel of diamonds from the Lulo Diamond Concession in Angola for a total of $790,000, or $420 per carat. Altogether the sale included 1,450.16 carats of diamonds. Unlike the first two parcels, the third parcel of Lulo Diamonds did not include many large-premium value special diamonds. The parcel sold included mining production up until January-end 2015.

Like the previous sales, this sale too was conducted by Angola's government diamond marketing agency, SODIAM, in the capital of Luanda.

The company plans to propose to the Lulo Board to hold the fourth tender in May 2015. This sale is expected to include a 63.05 carat Type IIa diamond recovered in April 2015. This large exceptional diamond has now been acid washed and confirmed as a D-colour diamond by the Yehuda colorimeter.
